Weather fine and cool. Checked registrations on wire cutting zone. Brigade heavily shelled at noon. No.3 gun 1st Battery badly damaged. One sergeant, 2 gunners killed. Whole gun crew would have been casualties if the emplacement had not been strongly built. Major John McCrae , M.O. received orders to report at Shorncliffe. Relieved by Capt. Lockhart, C.A.M.C.
