Dear Folks at Home:-

Received Mother’s letter of April 28th last week.  None of us have received any boxes for the last month.  They must be holding them for some reason or other as we have been getting our letters alright.

Am sorry that grandma is sick again.  You didn’t tell me whether it was Rob or Jack who has just got married but I presume it is Rob.

We have been having glorious weather lately and our spare time has mostly been taken up with playing baseball and swimming.  I play on the Sigs baseball team so am therefore very much interested in it.

We are certainly glad to have the YMCA in France.  Nearly all the stuff they handle comes from Canada and therefore seems much better than what we ordinarily get.  Last week they had canned cherries and they were just like good home-made preserves.

They also put on some good movie shows sometimes which are certainly well patronized.  In fact, sometimes I think they almost spoil us with their kindness.

Please send me lots of papers or magazines as it is often hard to get anything to read.  It almost seems to me that I am asking for things all the time but they are all things I would really like to have.

Must close now.  We are all well and hope you are the same.  Lovingly, John.

This is part of the John Cushnie Collection. This is a collection of approximatly 98 letters from 1916 to 1918, and a diary with 220 entries from 1918. These letters and diary entries, were very gratiously provided by Anne Hales.
