Son of Calixe 'Calvin' Grenier and Mina Grenier (nee Gilmore); husband of May Eva Greenia (nee Martin) married October 29, 1898. It appears that the name he used at the time of his marriage, and probably before, was 'Greenia' rather than 'Grenier'. It is possible that U.S. (Vermont) Government clerks didn't know how to spell 'Grenier', so they just made up the spelling 'Greenia'. This conclusion was arrived at due to the significantly high number of families with the surname 'Greenia' found in the Vermont Vital Records around that time. When he attested in the C.E.F., he used the name 'Green'
