Son of Simeon and Sarah Conrad, of Grand Desert, Halifax Co., Nova Scotia.

This man was promoted from Corporal to temporary Lieutenant in the 31st on 19th July 1916.

The war diary states that this officer became the Battalion Scout Officer on 14th August 1916.

This officer along with one OR attended a Snipers course at Mont Des Chats on 18th August 1916.

KIA September 15th, 1916 during the Battle of Flers-Courcelette. Moved up from Canadian front line to the area of a German communication trench along the Mouquet Road (Sunken Road) just outside of Courcelette and was struck in the breast by a sniper's bullet.
