Uploader's Notes: Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Hermeston, of Uno Park, Timiskaming Co., Ontario.
CEF Burial Registers - Previously reported Wounded and Missing, now for official purposes presumed to have Died. At about 4 o'clock in the afternoon of April 4th, 1917, whilst in a hut at Neuville St. Vaast, along with several comrades, a shell made a direct hit on the hut, causing several casualties. After the explosion, a search was made, but no trace of his remains could be found.
War Diary reports 11 dead, 27 wounded. Hermeston was originally classed as wounded and missing.
