On 15/8/17 on Hill 70, after the capture of the second objective, this man displayed energy and resource to a remarkably high degree in superintending his part of the consolidation of the captured area. Though tired through long hours of work he remained cheerful and cool encouraging and spurring his men to more work.
On 16/8/17 this N.C.O. showed remarkable coolness and energy in preparing the position for defense. He then led his men to the attack on the CHALK PIT where he was severely wounded.
