Distinguished Conduct Medal (Chilly)
Description: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during operations east of Amiens from 8th to 13th August, 1918. During the attack on Chilly he personally led a small party and reconnoitred well in front and to the left of our line which was exposed, and coming into contact with an enemy machine-gun post he rushed it, shot two Germans with his revolver, captured the gun and drove off the rest of the crew in disorder. Throughout he displayed remarkable foresight and great determination.
