During the period 14/8/17 to 18/8/17 on Hill 70 this N.C.O. displayed unusual valour and coolness in laying lines, superintending the repairing of same and generally in keeping up communications with the front line. He worked almost continuously for 60 hours, although double the establishment of linesmen were used. He covered the whole length of the lines many times.
