Description: For conspicuous bravery and distinguished conduct in action. On August 16th 1917, this man was sent back with a very important message. He had to go through an intense bombardment. He was buried twice by shell fire. He delivered the message and returned with the answer. He then assisted in manning the position and repelling the counter attacks. He was badly bruised and shaken but by sheer determination stuck it out.

On 16/8/17, on Hill 70, after the capture of the CHALK PIT, this man on being sent back with a very important message, had to go through an intense enemy barrage , he was twice buried by shell fire, but delivered the message and returned with the answer. Although badly shaken up and bruised, he continued to assist in manning the position and repelling counter attacks.
