Description: On 15/8/17, on Hill 70, when acting as a No. 2 of a LEWIS GUN crew, he, with the help of one man, carried his gun and spare parts complete to the final objective of the battalion.
On 16/8/17, he again took the gun forward and placed it on the extreme right of the CHALK PIT, and although under continuous enemy machine gun fire and sniping, he made an emplacement and prepared to meet a counter attack.
His comrade was killed and he himself wounded, but he stuck to his gun until it was put out of action, afterward carrying on with his rifle.
