Military Cross (Kodema (North Russia)) For conspicuous gallantry and resource on December 15th, 1918, at KODEMA, when in charge of the operations, in addition to being in charge of an 18 pounder. He brought artillery fire to bear on the village at a range of 800 yards, under heavy rifle and machine-gun fire, with marked success. He has previously done good work.

RESEARCH INFORMATION
Pre war Militia service at the 1910-1911 Sussex, NB Camp. Son of Max M. and Lillian A. Mowat, of Campbellton, NB. Brother of Morden Maxwell Mowat and Godfrey Alden Mowat, both of whom served as officers in the war. Enlisted at Fredericton, NB, on January 13, 1915 with the 24th Battery, CFA. His grave marker bears the inscription "Died in Russia".

CEF Burial Registers - "Died of Wounds at No.337 American Field Hospital, Berezniki". He was buried in the Pianda Churchyard, on the North East side of the Church at Berezniki, North Russia. His body was later exhumed and returned to Canada.
