Distinguished Conduct Medal
Description: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He, alone with a wounded comrade, held an advanced post for seven hours under heavy shell and machine-gun fire until a party of enemy surrendered. He then compelled four prisoners to carry back his wounded comrade, and remained in the captured position until relief arrived.
