Born 3rd August, 1898, at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Father, H. W. Eyres, Grain Broker. Educated at Mulvey School, Winnipeg, and Kelvin Technical School. Entered the service of the Bank, 24th August,1915. Enlisted, March, 1917, from Winnipeg branch, in 76th Depot Battery, Canadian Artillery, with the rank of Gunner. Transferred to Canadian Reserve Artillery, Witley, September, 1917; 2nd Canadian Siege Battery, October, 1917. Principal actions: Passchendaele, 1917; Amiens, Arras, Cambrai, Valenciennes, 1918. Demobilized, 11th May, 1919. Returned to duty with the Bank, 9th June, 1919.
