Uploader's Notes: Son of William Sandford Ellis and Elizabeth Ellis, of Alliston, Ontario.
Uploader's Research notes: At Festubert, after the attack on the Orchard on May 20, owing to the heavy casualties an appeal was made to the 3rd Field Ambulance for volunteers to assist in carrying in the wounded. With seven others and an officer he went forward and helped in the work under heavy fire until he himself and his friend, Private Little, were fatally wounded. The next day he succumbed to his injuries. (FROM: the "University of Toronto / Roll of Service 1914-1918", published in 1921) [Private Army Canadian Army Medical Corps No 3 Field Ambulance ]
