CEF Burial Registers - Killed in Action - Killed shortly after midnight the morning of April 23rd, 1916. This NCO who was in charge of a small party in the trench, was supervising the laying of bathmatting, when he was hit by a piece of shrapnel in the left shoulder. It is believed that it must have penetrated to the heart as death was almost instantaneous.
