Son of William Livingston and Sarah Livingston of Big Bras D'Or, Victoria Co., Nova Scotia.

Along with fellow Lieut. Fraser, Lieut. Archibald was on a reconnaissance mission in front of 25th battalion lines on the night of 7th April 1918. Lt. Fraser was seriously wounded, and died the following day. Lieut. Archibald was originally listed as missing; later confirmed killed in action.
