Uploader's Notes: Born 15 August 1897 in Waterford, Ontario. The son of late Herbert Matthews. He listed himself as single and was a farm hand. He enlisted on 26 January 1916 at Exeter, Ontario joining the 161st Battalion. He transferred to the 58th Battalion on 29 January 1916. He remained with the 58th Battalion until his death. - - Pte Ross is also commemorated on a memorial in Magnetawan, Ontario having made the supreme sacrifice.
