Possibly killed per 18th Battalion War Diary Entry: Training during the morning. Postponed Church Parade held. About midday (12.40 pm) shell dropped by long range gun struck one of the huts in which H.Q. details and portion of D coy where billeted. 5 ors Killled. 4 ors died of wounds. 35 wounded.

KILLED IN ACTION
Pte. George H. Reid [sic], of Earlscourt, Was Well Known as a Soloist at Local Concerts.
Earlscourt. Aug. 13.-Word has been received here that Pte. George H. Reed was killed in action July 9.
At the time of entlistment, Pte. Reed live with J. Lovett, 498 Vaughan road. He enlisted with the 45th Victoria Regiment at Lindsay, Ont. He was born in England 24 years ago. He was very active in all social affairs, and was well known as a soloist at local concerts.

PTE G.H. REED KILLED
Mr. J. Lovett, 49 Vaughan road, has received word that Pte. George H. Reed, who live and worked with him for seven years, was killed in action on July 9. He was 24 years of age, and went overseas with a Lindsay battalion in May 1915. Mr. Lovett's son, Pte. W.P. Lovett, is also overseas, and also his son-in-law, Pte. W.C. Morgan.
