Military Medal For great courage and determination, on Aug. 18th to 22nd, 1917. After all senior N.C.O.s had become casualties, L/Cpl. SCOTT took charge of his platoon. He was wounded on the night of Aug. 18th, but realizing that he was the only N.C.O. left in the Platoon, refused to leave the line and stayed with his men until relieved four days later. His splendid example was a great inspiration to his men and his cheerfulness, even when very fatigued, helped everyone around him to carry on.
