For distinguished and gallant service rendered in Gallipoli during the period of General Sir Charles Munro's command of the Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.
He belonged to the Ambulance Section and laid down his life while binding up the wounds of others under heavy enemy fire outside the trenches at Suvla Bay, on the Gallipoli Peninsula, on December 1st 1915.
