Globe and Mail, June 8 1916 pg5: Lieut. Guy Warwick Rutter, son of Mr. and Mrs. A.F. Rutter, who thoughtfully cabled his parents stating that his wounds were not serious, is dead of his injuries. There is a photo of him on the same page.
His obituary of January 21, 1952 states the following: Mr. Rutter had the unique experience as a soldier in the First World War of reading his own obituary. Reported as having died from wounds received in the second battle of Ypres, June, 1916. Lieut. Guy Rutter was honored by his Toronto friends at a public funeral service held in St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Bloor St. E. He returned home to read obituary notices published in the newspapers. He served overseas with the 4th Canadian Mounted Rifles.
