Private Eadle was the first member of the 13th Battalion killed in action, while on the 13th first tour of instruction in the trenches near Armentieres, by the Lille road.

Fetherstonhaugh, in the Battalion history, lists Eadle as being KIA, not Died of Wounds (Wigney), stating that he was "Caught by a burst of fire and instantly killed" (page 34).
