Son of John Lawlor and Anne Lawlor, of Dudley, Stafford, England.

A 15 year old William Lawlor left Liverpool on 14 July 1887 on board the ship Sarmatian with a Party of Home Children under Cardinal Manning of the Catholic Emigration Society and arrived Quebec City on 24 July 1887 with final Destination Ottawa Ontario. On 28 Jan 1915 and now living in Winnipeg Manitoba 43 year old William Lawlor joins and helps organize the 22 Dec 1915 authorized 101st Battalion. This Battalion sails for England on 28 June 1916 and it is broken up by 13 July 1916. Private William Lawlor is transferred to the 17th Reserve Battalion on 13 July 1916 On 11 September 1916 he is in France attached to the 46th Battalion. On 9 April 1917 former Home Child William Lawlor is Killed in Action during an Attack on Vimy Ridge.
