Uploader's Notes: Thomas Hughes in 1901 lived with his Mother Harriet and his Father George Hughes in Abergele St Asaph Denbighshire Wales with their 3 other young children. George Hughes married Harriet Mary Ann Redhead on 31 Aug 1892 but Father George Hughes died at 33 years of age in the summer of 1906. On 12 March 1908 a 10 year old Thomas Hughes leaves England on the ship Dominion arriving in Halifax Nova Scotia on 21 March 1908 for Destination the Bernardo Homes in Toronto Ontario.On 4 December 1915 Thomas Hughes becomes an original member of the 22 December 1915 authorized 99 Battalion(Essex). On the 31 May 1916 this unit sails for England and its members become part of the 35th Reserve Battalion on 6 July 1915. On 27 August 1916 Private Thomas Hughes is transferred to the 19th Central Ontario Battalion. On 9 April 1917 former Barnardo Home Child Thomas Hughes is Killed in Action during an attack against Vimy Ridge.
