PTE G. THOMPSON KILLED

"He gave himself up, I don't want any praise." In these words Mrs. Thompson of 100 Weston road south, expressed the loss of her 18 year-old son, Pte George G. Thompson, reported killed in action. "He wrote in a recent letter that he thought he would be coming home, owing to have been taken ill, and then later he said: "Don't worry about me, if you don't get a letter, you will know we have got a lot of work to do and it is impossible to write. But if things go right I'll be home soon." Office notice states Pte. Thompson was killed on April 9. He was born in Toronto, enlisted in December 1915, and had been in France since June last. He was previously buried by a shell and had been injured about the head, but recovered shortly thereafter. Prior to enlisting he was attending the Technical High School and was learning a trade with a local piano firm.
