Uploader's Research notes: War Diary 85th battalion states:...."Col.Ralston(no relation) wounded in the foot.Major Ralston heads to the front line to take command.(9th August)"The following days entry simply states.."Major Ralston killed in action."Major Ralston was directing the fire of stokes and newton guns when he was killed instantly by machine gun fire. Major Ralston originally enlisted with the 60th battalion as a Captain.
