According to The Asquith Record he went overseas with the Winnipeg Little Black Devils and was later transferred to the 44th Canadians. He was seriously wounded at Vimy Ridge and spent several years in hospitals, having been shot in the shoulder and the face.
"Herb" was the brother of both James "Harold" Dougan 2293742 and Burton "Bert" Dougan who was "with the Air Force"
He is included in the Asquith and District Roll of Honour on page 31 of The Asquith Record as Dougan, Herbert.
He died February 12, 1967.
