Digitized images of two newspaper clippings are included on his memorial page on the CVWM. These mention the following:

Brother of Clarence A Long 27920 Chum of Will Upshaw, reported missing. Have been unable to identify this soldier.

Prior to his enlistment he had been a member of the Queen's Own Regiment militia for 14 months.
