Military Medal (Arleux)
Description: This N.C.O. is recommended for conspicuous gallantry at ARLEUX on the afternoon of April 24, 1917, when his platoon was subjected to an extremely heavy enemy bombardment. Sgt. Coker by his good judgement and supervision placed his platoon so that it only suffered four casualties. Again on April 23/24th, 1917, this N.C.O. showed great dash and determination in leading a Battle patrol of 12 men into the enemy line, obtaining much valuable information as regards the state of his defences, and again on the night of April 25/26th he was of valuable assistance to his new Company Commander in siting and digging a new line of trench, 500 yards in advance of our own line. This was under heavy artillery and M.G. fire.
