Uploader's Notes: John Carl Murchie was one of four children of Frank S Murchie (Frank S Murchie 1871-21 June 1943 and Minerva(Minnie) S Burpee 1870-?) who was born 7 June 1895 in Edmunston New Brunswick. In 1913 an 18 year old John C Murchee enrolls in a wartime shortened 2 year course at Royal Military College in Kingston Ontario as an Officer Cadet and graduates on 16 May 1915 and is promoted to Lieutenant on 26 June 1915 and joins the CEF on 10 August 1915 as a Horse Artillery Officer.On 21 May 1919 Capt Murchie is back in Canada with the Royal Canadian Artillery. On 31 July 1920 Capt John C Murchie marries Sybil Margaret Kirkpatrick.On 1 Dec 1939 Major Murchie is promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and becomes Director of Military Training and Staff Duties.On 13 May 1940 Colonel Murchie is Director of Military Intelligence and Military Operations On 24 Feb 1941 Brigadier Murchie is the Staff Officer at Canadian Military HQ in London England. On 15 Feb 1942 Major General Murchie is Vice Chief of the General Staff at Army Headquarters in Canada. Lieutenant General Murchie is Chief of the Army General staff from 3 May 1944 until 20 May 1945 when he goes to Canadian Military Headquarters in London England then retires back to Canada on 9 May 1947. LGEN John C Murchie dies in Ottawa on 5 March 1966.
