Son of Henry Charles Hamlin and Eliza Louisa Hamlin of London; husband of F. C. Hamlin of 79 Albert Road, Kilburn, London, England

On May 15, 1916, a gasoline explosion occurred on board in the engine room on the C G S Midlred McColl near Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, while Fred was on duty above ship. He was in hospital for 3 months.

After 14 days of hospitalization, Fred died of the Spanish Flu that swept through the camp.
