Croix de Guerre (Belgium). only son of Leonard and Ettie Goodwin-Carter, of Pointe de Bute, Westmoreland County, New Brunswick, Canada.
May 19, 1918 shot down behind enemy lines and taken prisoner. He was repatriated on Dec.13, 1918.

Canadian Airman Fell to Death
London, Friday, May 23 - Major Carter, Canadian Air Forces, was killed yesterday at the Canadian airdrome at Shoreham. It is believed a wing of his machine broke, and he fell seven thousand feet. He received the Distinguished Service Order and the Croix de Guerre last year.
