Son of Mrs. Sarah Barnes, of 32, Wheeler St., Toronto; husband of Jane Barnes, of 32, Wheeler St., Toronto, Ont.

Although this man is listed by the CWGC and the Canadian Virtual War Memorial, as having served with the 160th Battalion his service number and his LAC attestation papers indicate that he enlisted into the 180th Battalion. There is no record of his ever having served with the 160th Battalion. He was not listed on the nominal roll/embarkation list of the 160th Battalion when it sailed for Britain October 19th, 1916.

CEF Burial Registers record him serving with 180th Battalion and dying from valvular disease of the heart, chronic and sub-acute endocarditis; and, hemeplegia and pneumonia.
