Uploader's Research notes: "Died of Wounds" While on road work in the forward area, about 10 a.m. on October 18th 1917, an enemy shell landed nearby, fragments hitting him on the left leg, which was almost severed. He was immediately taken to a First Aid Dressing Station and later to No. 10 Casualty Clearing Station where he died the following day.
