Uploader's Notes: Archie McAulay Crawford was the adopted son of Daniel born March 1865 and Esther born Nov 1865 Crawford of 106 Elliott St., Galt, Ontario. and both parents came from Paisley, Scotland. Archibald McCauley Crawford was born 3 September 1894 in Beith Ayrshire Scotland and came from the Quarrier's Orphan Homes of Scotland on the ship Hesperian in 1914 as 20 year old youth and was adopted into the Crawford family. Archie Crawford was employed in a Galt Machine Shop as an Apprentice but he called himself a Fitter. Archibald Crawford had spend 6 months as a Militia soldier with the 29th Waterloo (Galt) Regiment when he enlisted on 11 January 1915 at Galt Ontario into the 34th Battalion as a 20 year old soldier. The 34th Battalion from Guelph Ontario was authorized on 7 November 1914 and organized on 15 March 1915. Private Crawford sailed to England with his 34th Battalion of 1102 soldiers on 23 October 1915. The 34th Battalion was broken up when it arrived in England and Private Crawford was transferred to the 11th Reserve Battalion until 3 August 1915 when he was transferred to the 1st Battalion from Western Ontario. 22 year old Home Child A2045 Private Archie McAulay Crawford was Killed in Action on 13 October 1915 as a member of the 1st Battalion, 1st Brigade, 1st Division, at Ypres and along the Western Front. Daniel and Esther Crawford son John died 8 July 1911 in his 19th year and son Archibald was killed in Action in France on 13 October 1915 in his 22nd year. Both Crawford Boys are Remembered in the Mount View Cemetery in Waterloo Ontario by their Parents Daniel and Esther Crawford.
