Son of George Owen Buchanan, and Mary Nelson Buchanan, of 338, Eighth St., New Westminster, British Columbia. B.A. and LL.B. Toronto University. Barrister of Province of B.C. Native of Truro, Nova Scotia.

When he joined up he had served in the 6th Regiment, Duke of Connaught's Own Rifles for 3 months.

When he was killed it would appear that he was attached to the 13th Battalion.

Killed in Action - he was acting machine gun officer in the front line trenches, which were being subject to an intense fire from the enemy, both from trench mortars and Stoke's gun shells. Between 6.30 and 7 P.M. on April 19th 1916, one of these latter shells burst on the parados, in the "bay" where he was standing, killing him instantly.

Uploader's Research notes: Info from the attestation papers, 13th Battalion war diaries and this man is on the CWGC site.
