Uploader's Notes: Son of James M. and Mary Jane Donaldson, of Edinburgh, Scotland; husband of Henrietta Donaldson, of 7, Melville Gardens, Montrose, Scotland. In David's military files from LAC seen in February 2013, the following information: 82nd Bttn, 103rd Rifles Fair complexion, blue eyes, light brown hair. Brother: William Donaldson, Toronto. Religion is listed as both Presbyterian and Church of England. 27-9-16: Reverted to the ranks at his won request in order to proceed overseas. He was promoted to Corporal July 30, 1917 to be A/L/ sgt 19-11-17; posthumously appointed L/Sgt 24-12-17. He was in France. He was on the Empress of Britain from Halifax 20-6-16. Shrapnel wound: April 14, 1917. About two weeks spent in hospital in Boulogne. Commemorated on the stained glass window at Scarboro United Church, Calgary, Alberta, Canada.

While his company was assembling to attack on the morning of November 06, 1917, he was wounded by shrapnel in the left hand and arm. Enroute to the dressing station, he was killed by the concussion of an artillery shell explosion.
