"Died of Wounds"
During military operations at Neuville-Vitasse, he was wounded in both legs and elbow by an enemy hand grenade. He was immediately attended to by a stretcher bearer and evacuated to No. 33 Casualty Clearing Station where he succumbed to his wounds sometime later.
