Son of Mrs. Elizabeth Comun, of Lower Neguac, Northumberland Co., New Brunswick. In 2003, his name was found carved in one of the walls of the Goodman Tunnel under the Vimy Monument.
4 Jan 1919 issue of The World notes that during his service Gilbert had been wounded and returned to the trenches, but had died of the Spanish Flu after the Armistice. He was the adopted son of Mrs Joseph (Elizabeth) A Comeau of Lower Neguac.
