Uploader's Notes:

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward McLaughlin, of 732, Windsor Street, Halifax; husband of Mrs. George McLaughlin, of Willow Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Listed on the Nominal Roll of the 219th Battalion. This is particularly odd as the unit sailed months after his death and even his enlistment seems to be post mortem. The CWG site lists him by name and number as having died in February 1916 and the attestation paper says enlisted in March 1916. Our Veterans Affairs Virtual Memorial lists the incorrect date of death.

On consultation of his file at the archives in Ottawa, the date of death has been corrected to 1917. He received a shrapnel wound to the head of 23/2/1917 and died the next day. I have contacted VAC to get his information changed in the Virtual War Memorial. August 31,2008. This was changed as of the end of October 2008.

Uploader's Research notes: LAC file, 17 pages of documentation including casualty forms, field service log and medal card. [Private Army Canadian Infantry 13th Battalion ]
