War Diary of 4th Brigade, Canadian Field Artillery for July 16, 1917 states: "During day enemy had six balloons up opposite our front and his artillery showed very great activity - firing about 3000 rounds into this valley. Lieut Plunkett of the 19th Battery was killed and four men in the Brigade were wounded.".
