According to his Attestation form we was re-sworn on Nov 13, 1916 when he was enlisted to 241st Battalion.
This soldier, while engaged in carrying out the wounded during the attack on Passchendaele Ridge, was badly gassed by an enemy shell which burst near him. However, he continued his duties until overcome, and he was then sent to the Field Ambulance, and thence to the Clearing Station. Private Brooks died three days later from the effects of the gas at No. 24 General Hospital, Etaples.
