Lance-Corporal. Born 14th October, 1897, at Maple Valley, Ontario, Canada. Father, Samuel W. Gray, Farmer. Educated at Weyburn Public School and Weyburn Collegiate Institute. Entered the service of the Bank, 13th August, 1915. Enlisted, 4th October, 1915, from Weyburn branch, with the 1st University Company. Joined Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry in the field November 12, 1916, with the rank of Private. Promoted Lance-Corporal, 3rd July, 1917. Principal actions: Vimy Ridge, Hill 70, Passchendaele, 1917. Gun shot wound through the left lung, 28th October, 1917, at Passchendaele.

Died of Wounds at No. 4 General Hospital, Camiers, France, 28th December, 1917.
