Uploader's Notes: Son of Francis Bowyer Kitto and Lavinia Mary Kitto, of 920, Heywood Avenue, Victoria, British Columbia.

He served for three months with the Royal Artillery Officer’s Cadet School at St. John’s Wood, Exeter and was then commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Field Artillery on 17 May 1916. Initially he served in England with the Reserve Brigade, C. F. A.

On 16 September 1916 during an attack west of Courcelette, he was shot through the heart by a sniper, who, after the infantry had advanced, was found to have been located in a shell hole within the Canadian lines.
