War Diary 54th Battalion - 'A' Company was located in a railway cutting upon which the enemy opened up about 10.00 a.m., blue cross gas and HE shells mixed whle the men were, for the most part, asleep. One man was killed and two men wounded and a large number gassed to a greater or lesser extent.
