A Toronto Star article dated November 1st, 1918, reported Pte. Bell as missing (see Virtual Memorial link to view an original of this article). Highlights of this article:

Enlisted with the 198th Battalion Toronto Buffs. Went overseas April 1917.No previous military experience.

Pte. Bell's family placed an individual brass memorial plaque in his honour at the Church of the Holy Trinity (Anglican), Trinity Square, Toronto, Ontario. This church is adjacent to the Toronto Eaton Centre and was nearly torn down during the 1960s redevelopment era. It is the only individual plaque to a soldier in the church, although the church also has a memorial plaque to the fallen of World War One that was placed on the wall of the church in 1922.
