"Died of Wounds" (Accidental) On the afternoon of May 26th, 1917, whilst playing a game of ball, one of his comrades picked up a "blind shell" which exploded from some unknown cause. Private Griffin was fatally wounded by the explosion and succumbed shortly afterwards.
NOTE: lied about birthdate on Attestion Paper. Was actually born 1899, not 1897
