Action is cited in Fetherstongaugh for 24th Battalion on July 7, 1917 date of death) as the battalion moved up to relieve the 25th and there had been intense fire the night before in the Lens area, but I cannot confirm that Cottingham was killed that day (see Fetherstonhaugh Chapter VIII Trench Tours on the Vimy front P. 148-149)
