Enlisted with the Canadian Engineers at Winnipeg. Reported to the CETD, St Johns, Quebec on November 27.

Sailed with the 22nd Reinforcing Draft, Canadian Engineers aboard SS Grampian from Halifax to Plymouth, January 26 to February 06, 1917.

Sapper Army Canadian Engineers Canadian Engineer Training Depot Crowborough Depot Sapper Army Canadian Engineers Canadian Corps Headquarters 5th Army Troops Company

Posted to the Canadian Engineers Reinforcements Pool and proceeded to France on June 07, 1917. Attached to the 3rd Entrenching Battalion on arrival in France.

Posted to the Canadian Corps Headquarters for duty on July 21.

Private Army Canadian Infantry 27th Battalion

On August 08, 1917 he was attached to the General Base Depot, and posted to the 27th Battalion from that unit the following day. He joined the 27th Battalion in rest billets at Estree Cauchie on September 01. In late December he was briefly attached to the 6th Infantry Brigade Headquarters for duty.

Granted leave to England from January 24, 1918. rejoined the 27th Battalion at Avion on February 08.

Killed in action by artillery shellfire at Mercatel on April 07, 1918.
