CEF Burial Registers - 'Died of Wounds (Accidental) - during operations in the vicinity of Fransart, he was looking over the parapet of the trench, when the enemy commenced machine gun fire and he jumped back into the trench falling on a bayonet, which went through his abdomen and caused his death later at No. 48 Casualty Clearing Station.'
